About This Piece

Triple Diamond 14-karat Yellow Gold Traditional Irish Shamrock Male Claddagh Emblem Of Love And Friendship Ring

The clean lines and architectural structure of this stunningly original Claddagh and shamrock ring empowers the wearer with a sense of cultural identity and connection to the old country.

The 14-karat yellow gold that forms the main body of the ring, together with the centerpiece golden shamrock, has been hallmarked in Ireland's historic Dublin Assay Office est. 1637 by the royal charter of King Charles I.

Each of three diamonds weighs 0.01 carats for a combined weight of 0.03cts. The diamonds are set into the leaves of the traditional shamrock motif to create a unique twist on the iconic national symbol

The Claddagh heart, hands, and crown support the main central feature on either side, forming a support for the shamrock that molds itself beautifully to the wearer's finger.

Ancient Irish Symbols Beautifully Combined

The use of the shamrock as a symbol of Irish national identity dates back to the time of Saint Patrick and 5th century Ireland. The legendary saint is said to have used it to explain the mystery of the holy trinity to local pagan chieftains.

In 1675, Richard Joyce left his home in Claddagh, Galway, to find fortune in the British West Indies but was captured by Barbary pirates and sold into servitude in North Africa.

When he returned 14 years later, he created the first Claddagh ring and presented it to his childhood sweetheart and future wife.

He chose the heart to represent undying love, the crown loyalty, and the hands, the true friendship that underlies every great romance.
