In 1689, his opportunity came, and he resisted the offers of his master to marry his daughter and become a rich, free man in Barbary in order to make the perilous journey home to Galway Bay. 

In Ireland once more, he crafted the first of his impossibly romantic rings for his beloved childhood sweetheart and future wife with the same iconic features we know today.
